6^th Grade Beginning Band

 This exciting class is designed for kids wanting to play a musical instrument.  Students do not need any prior musical experience. Students will learn to play a musical instrument, to read music, and perform.  Students will practice at home and are required to be in all performances.  The class is a year-long course. 

Choir

Members are not required to audition. This performing ensemble is open to all boys and girls who are interested in learning more about vocal technique, part singing, choreography, staging and performing. Participants will perform at all major concerts and will be encouraged to participate in solo and small ensemble opportunities.

7^th Grade Beginning Band

 This class allows students who did not participate in band in the 6th grade to join the program and learn a musical instrument.  Students do not need any musical experience.  Students will learn to play a musical instrument, to read music, and perform.  Students will practice at home and are required to be in all performances.  This fast paced class will prepare students for 8th grade band the following year. This class is a year-long course. 

7^th Grade Intermediate Band

 This class is designed for students with one year of band experience or who have special permission from the band director.  This class will study more advanced music, band techniques, and will develop advanced ensemble sound.  Students will practice at home and are required to be in all performances.  The class is a year-long course.

8^th Grade Advanced Band

 This class is designed for students with two years of band experience or who have special permission from the director.  This class will study advanced band literature, concentrate on ensemble sound and performance, and practice advanced instrumental techniques.  Students will practice at home and are required to be in all performances.  The class is a year-long course.

Swingin' Knights Jazz Ensemble

This performing ensemble explores music through the study and performance of jazz, and works to develop the unique musical and technical skills required to understand and play this art form at the highest possible level. Students will explore big band playing, improvisation, small ensemble and combo playing, and develop the ability to listen and to understand jazz. Instrumentation is specific and limited. Members must audition from Concert Band or Symphonic Band and receive director approval.
