Choir Handbook 2007-2008Rehearsal Procedures/Student ExpectationsAll Northglenn Middle School students are expected to follow the 4 R’s; Ready, Responsibility, Respect and Rigor.
Ready Be at all rehearsals and performances on time…which means early! There’s a difference between being present and being ready. Be in your seat, with choir folder, pencil, & journal ready to make music, by one minute after the bell. Have all required materials at all rehearsals (see “Materials Needed” on pg. 5). Have gum spit out in the “Gum Jar”.
Responsibility Participate fully in every rehearsal to prepare for our concerts. Take care of music and choir folder by not bending or abusing it. Put away music in the proper storage area at the end of every rehearsal. Don’t touch music that is not your own. Please do not ask to leave class for any reason unless you are ill and need to go home. Keep your mouth free from gum, candy, cough drops, food, etc. Take care of bathroom needs during passing period, students are not allowed to use the bathroom during class. If you are not able to participate in the rehearsal (e.g. vocally ill, injured), please see Mrs. Eddy immediately when you enter the room.
Respect Respect the rights of others to learn, and the teacher to teach by not causing an interruption to the rehearsal. Stop immediately when the conductor stops & start when the conductor starts. Raise your hand if you have an appropriate question. Stay in your seat unless you have permission to do otherwise. Do not touch what is not yours. The bell does not dismiss the class, the director dismisses the class.
Rigor Participate fully in rehearsal every day. This means great posture, working to develop vocal and breathing technique and music out, up, and ready. Attend all rehearsals and concerts. If you would like some extra help, just ask. If I can’t help you, I’ll find someone who can! Work energetically with your teammates to reach team goals.
Curriculum, Standards and Grading
