Club Descriptions

Students can teach each other new tricks, coordinate choreography and use the web to find new tricks. Sponsor: Ms. Turner

 

Students will take a school wide spelling test where the top spellers from each grade level will be invited to join the club.  Club members will practice spelling, compete in “mock bees” and prepare for the district Spelling Bee on January 19, 2007. Sponsors:  Mrs. Foley and Mrs. Maguire

Academic –Lessons for success in Middle School taught by 8th grade leaders to    6th grade students in  classrooms

Social - Planning, inviting and attending events with 6th graders during and after school hours (i.e. sporting events, dances, socials, etc.)

Community Service - Students will plan and complete community service inside and outside of school.  Sponsors:  Ms. Rapp and Ms. Swanson

 

Newspaper is a club for budding journalists.  Students will learn how to write for a newspaper, edit their own writing and understand the elements of a newspaper.      Sponsor:  Mrs. Berohn

 

Students will learn basic knitting stitches and use those stitches to work on a scarf or a hat.  Students will need to provide their own knitting needles (any size) and yarn.  Knitting has turned into quite a social event and now students can enjoy this past time with their peers.  Sponsor:  Ms. Carr

 

Students will have the opportunity to compete in strategy games and trading cards, as well as, game boy.  This is one popular club!  Sponsor Ms. Dnali

 

All aspects of theater will be covered through the production of short plays and a full scale musical, including: technical theater, acting and voice production.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Eddy

 

Advanced choral music, independent part-singing, community performances and  more.  This is an audition only group.  Sponsor: Mrs. Eddy

 

Students meet weekly to prepare for two district competitions and one chapter competition.  Students work on challenging mathematics problems to prepare to do similar problems during Saturday competitions.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Fink

 

8th grade students who have passed an audition, maintain good grades and adhere to the Knights Code of Conduct will practice and then read announcements every morning for broadcast throughout the school.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Knepel

 

Members will read 42 popular books chosen by the middle school librarians.  They develop knowledge of the books, compete against each other in simulated experiences and choose a final team to represent NGMS in the district competetion.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Knepel

 

Members of the Anime Club sponsor art contests, read anime and manga books,    watch anime movies, fund raise to purchase more books, learn about Japanese culture, talk about their favorite characters and series, research series and styles on the internet and recruit new members throughout the year.

The goal of the club is to meet academic and social needs of gifted and talented learners.  It includes a variety of higher-level thinking skills and hands-on active   ties in academics and creative arts.  Activities include small group projects, self selected independent studies, field trips and other fascinating adventures.  Many important skills are taught, reinforced, and extended.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Leitner

 

Yearbook committee publishes the yearly annual while learning important aspects of journalism and technology.  Members learn how to best manage and create an attractive, quality book for the archives of Northglenn Middle School.  Sponsor:  Mr. Trujillo

 

Student Council is an organization dedicated to developing leaders in our community.  Planning and carrying out activities for both the student body and the community is paramount for this group.  Students will learn time management, personal responsibility and the importance of service learning during their time with the Northglenn Middle Student Council.  Sponsor:  Mr. Trujillo

 

Pep club will design activities to help bring spirit into the walls and community of Northglenn Middle!  Members will help plan pep rallies, carry out duties during school sponsored activities, and help raise the level of pride at NGMS.  Sponsors:  Mr. Trujillo and Mr. Stopperan

 

National Junior Honor Society is an organization designed to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote leadership, develop   character and encourage citizenship.  Students are invited to join NJHS based teacher recommendations, a 3.5 g.p.a. or higher and involvement both in and out of school activities.  Current members and inductees will meet monthly to discuss community service projects they have organized and perform additional time service acts.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Trujillo

 

The Creative club will meet twice a month to make fun crafts.  We will also practice cake decorating and learn new skills like knitting.  Specific activities will be determined by the groups interests.

Roving Rec has an all new homework help and intermurals club!  Twice a week    there is homework help and snack time, then  they will have an “expert”  here to lead a different sport or activity each month.
